Claim Your Dutch Home Sustainability Subsidy — Without the RVO Paperwork
Subsidie Terug · Over 10 years of experience in Dutch RVO grants · Verified October 23, 2026
Why Expats Use Subsidie Terug
Installed a heat pump, roof/floor/cavity wall insulation, or HR++ / triple glazing in your Dutch home? The Dutch government agency RVO reimburses up to 30% of your costs under the ISDE scheme. However, the RVO portal is entirely in technical Dutch and rejects applications over minor invoice details or missing KA-meldcodes. We verify your contractor's invoice, handle the entire RVO submission via a simple digital authorization (no DigiD hassle required), and charge a flat fee of €59 or €79 incl. VAT — payable only after RVO transfers the grant to your bank account.
- €59 / €79 No Cure, No Pay
- No DigiD struggle needed
- Grant paid directly to you

If you combine 2 or more measures within 24 months (for example, roof insulation + HR++ glass, or floor insulation + a heat pump), RVO doubles the grant per m² on all your insulation and glazing measures:
| Measure (Dutch RVO Category) | 1 Measure (2026) | 2+ Measures (Doubled!) | Key Technical Requirement |

The 6-Point RVO Invoice Checklist for Expats
The #1 reason expat applications get rejected by RVO is an incomplete contractor invoice. Before you pay your Dutch contractor's final invoice (or send it to our free RVO Invoice Check), make sure it includes these 6 items:
- Official RVO Meldcode (KA-number): e.g.
KA18273for insulation,KA30622for HR++ glazing, or the exact heat pump KA-code. You can look up all 7,271 codes in our RVO Meldcode Database. - Net surface area in m² (existing building shell only): for insulation and glazing, the exact number of m² must be stated. Note: an extension (aanbouw/uitbouw) that increases living space does not qualify and must be listed separately.
- Exact thermal insulation value (Rd or U value) & thickness in mm: e.g. Rd ≥ 3.5 for roof/floor/facade, Rd ≥ 1.1 for cavity walls, Ug ≤ 1.2 for HR++ glass, or Ug ≤ 0.7 AND frame Uf ≤ 1.5 for triple glazing.
- Installation date & property address: RVO checks that the application is submitted within 24 months of installation at your primary residence.
- Contractor's KvK number (Chamber of Commerce): DIY (do-it-yourself) installations are strictly excluded by RVO; a registered construction or installation company must perform the work.
- Proof of payment & construction photo(s): a bank statement/screenshot showing the invoice was paid from your account, plus (for insulation) at least one photo taken during the work showing the insulation material/label and your house.
Frequently Asked Questions (Expats & International Homeowners)
Can I apply for the Dutch ISDE subsidy without logging in with DigiD myself?
Yes. As an authorised intermediary (gemachtigde), Subsidie Terug submits the entire ISDE application on your behalf using RVO's official authorisation form (Machtiging). You simply sign the authorisation, send us your contractor's invoice, proof of payment, and construction photos, and RVO transfers 100% of the subsidy directly to your personal Dutch IBAN bank account.
How much is the Dutch ISDE subsidy in 2026 for a heat pump or insulation?
For an air-to-water heat pump (lucht-waterwarmtepomp), you receive €1,025 base grant + €225 per kW thermal power + €200 for an A+++ energy label (typically €1,900 to €3,500+). For insulation and HR++/triple glazing, 1 measure covers roughly 15% of the cost, and combining 2 or more measures within 24 months doubles the insulation grant per m² to roughly 30%.
Do I apply before or after installation?
If you are a private homeowner living in your own property (eigenaar-bewoner registered at the address in the municipal BRP), you apply AFTER the installation is completed and paid, within 24 months of installation. Important exception: if you are applying for a VvE (apartment building via SVVE) or a business/holiday home (ISDE Zakelijk), you must apply BEFORE signing the quote or starting construction.
What if I live in an apartment and belong to a VvE (Owners' Association)?
If your VvE is planning collective insulation, HR++/triple glazing, a heat pump, or an Energy Advice / Sustainable Multi-Year Maintenance Plan (DMJOP), the VvE can apply for the SVVE subsidy: 75% back on energy advice/DMJOP (applied afterwards) and high per-m² grants on insulation and glazing (applied before construction starts). Even small VvEs (2 or 3 apartments) qualify as long as at least one apartment is owner-occupied.
What does Subsidie Terug charge, and when do I pay?
We work strictly on a No Cure, No Pay basis: €59 incl. VAT for 1 residential insulation measure, or €79 incl. VAT for a heat pump, solar water heater, or a combination of 2+ measures. You only pay AFTER RVO has transferred the subsidy into your bank account. If RVO rejects the application, you pay €0.
RVO rejected my own application. Can you file an official objection (Bezwaar)?
Yes. You have 6 weeks from the date on RVO's decision letter to file an official objection (bezwaar). We first review your rejection letter and documents free of charge. If we see a strong case (for example, a missing KA-meldcode, m² specification, or photo that can be supplied), we file the formal objection on a No Cure, No Pay basis: 10% of the recovered subsidy (minimum €99).
